The Relationship With YOU
Since graduate school, I’ve felt everything was based on relationships. We have relationships in one way or another with others that are either directly or indirectly involved in our personal lives.
I believe the relationship with ourselves is the most important one of all. How we see ourselves is reflected in how we view others, the way we view situations, the choices that we make, how we interact with others, and how we see our place in the world. We are always “becoming”. Our life is a constant work in progress. The mission behind my practice is to help lead you on a path to living your passions, finding purpose in your life, and leading your most ideal life possible--truly loving yourself, and your decisions, with no regrets.
If you’re depressed, you most likely have a difficult time looking at yourself in a positive light. If you’re anxious, you most likely have concerns about how others view you, and are more prone to stress. If you’re going through struggles now, or you've been through things in your past that you continue to hold onto that do not serve you, I want to see you do more than survive. How would it feel to overcome, and thrive?
If you’re in a relationship with someone else that is not proving healthy, I want to see that relationship become a healthy one. If all possibilities are then exhausted, and the relationship proves to be a detriment to one or both of you, I want to see you both move through the emotions that come with change, and see you both be able to move forward.
I see the good in people. The struggles are there, but they do not have to define you. You are not a label that anyone has placed on you, or that you have placed upon yourself. My goal is to separate who you are as a person from any label that may be there. You are not your failures. You are not your diagnosis.
I entered my field with a desire to empower people, because I am empowered due to making it through life’s struggles. I want you to feel empowered to make decisions that will benefit your life. The goal in therapy is to help you figure out what steps you could benefit from taking so you can be excited, or get excited again, about all life has to offer.
We go through many struggles in our lives. The best we can do is find the lessons in our struggles-- taking a tough situation, and finding the best we can in it. Life is just too precious to not enjoy it!
