No matter what makes you choose to seek out therapy, oftentimes it has to do with breaking some sort of pattern. It could be a pattern that’s been learned and ingrained since your childhood. It could be something that you developed over time.
If you were attracted to the title of this article, you most likely want to break a cycle you’re on that may feel viscous. It may be hard to shake the feeling of going in the same circle, instead of stepping onto a steadier path.
You may or may not be able to identify what's contributing to holding onto these patterns. Whether it's something you do to cope, something you now find hard to control, or something you’re just now noticing is going on for you--and you want to stop it before it gets worse--you have the ability to break a pattern.
Is what’s going on for you taking focus away from your work, making it tough to make decisions, affecting your relationships, or the quality of your life overall? As with anything, it takes time and practice, patience and intention, and a commitment to break a pattern that has proven to not be healthy for you. Here are some motivational quotes that might help give you a jumpstart.
“Your pain is in the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. –Khalil Gibran”
“Depending on what they are, our habits will either make us or break us. We become what we repeatedly do. –Sean Covey”

“The secret of genuine happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details of daily life, and in elevating them to art. –William Morris”
“Celebrate what you’ve accomplished, but raise the bar a little higher each time you succeed. –Mia Hamm”
